Culvert Inspection in Sonoma County
31 January 2017

The winter of 2017 brought a tremendous amount of water to California. This caused the state to become concerned about the continued performance of culverts along a stretch of US-101 in Sonoma County. Our company responded to a request for proposals from CALTRANS to inspect the culverts and won the job. It was some time after this series of events that I found myself in…THE TWILIGHT ZONE…!

In actuality I found myself in the parking lot of the Happy Donuts shop in Windsor, California on the morning of January 31, when a crow flew out of the sky and started squawking maniacally. It was an otherwise unique moment during a day of routine work. You have to appreciate moments like this when you live the corporate life.

‘One Squawk Away’

Crows are fascinating animals and I am quite sure they are smarter than you or even me. By the time you read this and type ‘intelligence of crows’ into your search engine of choice you will no doubt see that a legion of telepathic super-crows have learned to communicate fully with humans, leading to a renewed Age of Enlightenment and peace, love, and understanding among all nations of the Earth.
